Scriptwriting research 1: Slug lines

Recently I took a closer look into how to format a script so as to make it not only easier to follow but effective and succinct in it's use. I not only discovered about the format used (Courier sans font, 12pt size, black text on white background) but also about slug lines - which is specific directions used to say exactly what one wants to see in the scene: I will use these from now on in my screenplay.

Cold Crash Pictures

I recently watched an evaluatory video by filmmaker Cold Crash Pictures on whether or not I should watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpbO3T90-qI This video was very enlightening as it opened my eyes to whether or not film schools are the right step for me: I have decided that film production is the place I want to go if I ever choose a film university and that short films and casting calls are definitely a step in the right direction if I want to get noticed in the industry. I would say this video is reliable as while it is an opinion piece posted from  YouTube - It has been made by a working director who actually went to film school himself and so is very turstable and informative in evaluating the effectiveness of film school

Area of study 2: Scripting

Another integral part of making the film will be a snappy and well-written script. To this end I will watch films famous fro their scripts - such as Oscar winners and read books famous for their dialogue: such as those by Elmore Leonard. Furthermore I will research and watch video essays on how to write compelling scripts and dialogue. Finally I will have my scripts inspected by family friends and possibly teachers so they can give feedback for me to act on

Area of study 1: Acting

One of the most important factors going towards making this a good picture will be my ability to act. Towards this aim I will need to research and train my acting. The first step towards this is taking acting lessons with my sisters: both of which are stage actors, I will take these lessons once every two days to reinforce my acting ability and teach me the basics

Here I have the mind map for a basic idea of the lot for my movie (this is liable to change as the pre-production progresses)
